Celebrating the unique subculture of festival fashion inspired by one of South Africa’s most iconic music and lifestyle festival – Rocking the Daisies. There are no limits to the textiles, colours and prints – we want you to feel the freedom to express your most fabulous and fashionable festival self. The theme of the festival this year is ‘In The Stars’ so at least one of your looks in the collection must speak to the theme.
SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED
WHAT TO SUBMIT
- Each designer must submit 5 looks
- These can either be sketches, or styled looks on a mannequin or model with garments that the designer has already made
- All looks must be made by the designer / their seamstress (plagiarism will not be tolerated)
- The looks can be menswear, womenswear or unisex festival fashion looks
- Designers must provide a concise description of what their brand is about via the website in 200 words or less – this is your opportunity to compliment your submissions with context of who you are and what you represent as a brand
- We encourage freedom of expression but please ensure genitalia are covered in your designs
WHO MAY ENTER
- All designers must be either a South African resident or have a valid visa to work, study or reside in South Africa
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or over
- Upcoming designers looking to gain exposure on the platform of one of South Africa’s biggest and longest running festivals
- Legally, contestants chosen to advance to Phase Two of the talent search may need to submit documentation to confirm their age, residency, and other legal requirements for eligibility.
THE PRIZE
• The winner will receive a cash prize of R20 000.00
• The winner will receive the opportunity to collaborate with Rocking the Daisies on the Official 20 Year Anniversary merch capsule collection in 2025
• The winner will be profiled across Rocking the Daisies platforms and given additional exposure with Rocking the Daisies Media Partner
• The winning collection will be featured in the Official Rocking the Daisies Aftermovie
• 1 week internship with the Founder/Creative Director

• 1 week internship across relevant departments within the business

TALENT SEARCH INSTRUCTIONS
PHASE 1
- Designers must complete the online entry form on the Rocking the Daisies website – www.rockingthedaisies.com/ct/
- For your Electronic entry you need to:
- You must submit a 5 look collection – sketches or photographs of looks that are already produced must be submitted via the website
- 24 July 2024 is the deadline for the 5 look collection to be submitted
- From the 25 – 26 July 2024 – a panel of judges will view the collections submitted and select the semi-finalists
- Once the Top 20 Semi Finalist Designers are selected – the vote will go to the public
- 30 July – 1 August 2024 – The public will vote via Rocking the Daisies Instagram account for their favourite designers who they believe should showcase at Daisies ‘24
- Each designer will be posted on the Rocking the Daisies Instagram profile.
- The Public will be required to comment the name of their favourite designer.
- You may only comment/vote once – multiple comments does not equate to multiple votes.
- Designers that receive the most votes, will be combined with the Judges votes to ultimately choose the final five designers who will showcase at the festival
- 2 August 2024 Rocking the Daisies will announce the finalists to the media and on all our Social Media Channels.
PHASE 2
- The Top 5 Finalists selected will have to produce a 5-look collection that must be ready for the fitting on 2 September 2024 – date might change -Rocking the Daisies to confirm.
- Rocking the Daisies will do a video interview with each designer at the fitting, or require designers to submit a video if they are unable to physically attend the fitting – date and time to be confirmed.
- Designers will be notified of the fitting venue, where a full collection including shoes and accessories must be presented to the Rocking the Daisies team
- Any collection that is not complete by then will be disqualified
- The winner will be announced at the Rocking the Daisies Festival Fashion Talent Search showcase on the weekend of the festival 3 – 6 October 2024, in Darling, Cape Town.

Steyn Entertainment reserves the right to alter the competition schedule, including fitting dates, showcase dates, and other logistical details. Any changes or updates will be communicated through rockingthedaisies.com. Relevant parties directly affected by these changes will be contacted by a member of the Steyn Entertainment organising team
TERMS & CONDITIONS
All submissions must be done via the Rocking the Daisies Website – no email or social media submissions will be accepted
In your sketches, designers must clearly identify the preferred model size. Standard industry size for ladies is size 34. Designers must specify if collections require diversity in size range.
By enrolling in the Rocking the Daisies Festival Fashion Talent Search, you guarantee the authorship of your project. Should you be found guilty of plagiarism, you will be automatically disqualified. Rocking the Daisies takes no responsibility for accusations of plagiarism coming from third parties. The applicants will retain the copyright of the enrolled festival fashion collection.
Rocking the Daisies (Steyn Entertainment) reserves the right to disqualify any contestant at any time if they do not respect the terms and conditions of the entry requirements. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the safety of all submissions, Steyn Entertainment cannot be held responsible for any damage/theft of garments or designs that may occur during transport, selections or during the showcase at Rocking the Daisies festival. If selected as a Rocking the Daisies Festival Fashion Talent Search finalist, contestants are required to carry out all further arrangements (transport, etc.) and other obligations timeously.
Finalists, based on their talent, their ability to follow the brief, are selected via public votes and a panel of industry-leading judges.
In case of selection, the outfits will have to be made in total accordance with the sketches and technical details presented
Correct and accurate execution of outfits is essential, and if reckoned to vary greatly from the enrolled shapes and designs, the selected contestant will be disqualified
Once the Top 5 finalists are chosen – those 5 designs must be produced by the designer and be ready for fittings in September 2024
Failure to produce all 5 completed looks in the allocated time will result in disqualification, in which the next runner up will then take that slot in the Top 5
Flights will not be provided for finalists. Should you not be based in Cape Town you will have to pay for your flights to the fitting and the show. Accommodation for the show will be discussed on a case by case basis.
Steyn Entertainment will produce a fashion show at the festival where the Top 5 Finalists will showcase their work
Steyn Entertainment will provide Models, hair and make up for the show.
Steyn Entertainment will provide each finalist with high resolution images from the show for designers to utilise as they wish
By entering this competition you consent to your designs being showcased across Rocking the Daisies website and platform strictly in relation to the Rocking the Daisies talent search
The Top 5 Finalists will be profiled and given additional media exposure via the Rocking the Daisies platforms and media partners
Final judgment is a combination of public votes and judges discretion
Steyn Entertainment has final say over who the final winner is.
Dispute Resolution:
To ensure the highest ethical standards, the judges’ decisions are final. Any disputes will be addressed within the framework of the fashion show by our panel of judges, who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Whilst Steyn Entertainment has the final say over the winner, our judges play a crucial role in the evaluation process, ensuring that all participants receive a fair and impartial assessment. Our commitment is to uphold fairness and integrity throughout the competition.

No personal information will be made public or shared with a third party without consent of the contestants. Information we gather is purely to used for the purpose of conducting the talent search.
Force Majeure Clause:
In the event that the festival fashion show is cancelled because of a natural disaster, or any other unforseen events beyond Steyn Entertainment’s control, the company will not be held liable.
Indemnification:
“Contestants entering this talent search indemnify and hold harmless Rocking the Daisies (Steyn Entertainment) from any liabilities, claims, damages, or expenses arising from their participation in the competition, including but not limited to legal fees and costs related to disputes or breaches of contract.”
