The first and only South African social enterprise addressing greening, climate change action, food security, sustainable water and soil use and management, with a strong focus on… environmental and global warming education and awareness.
FTFA still works as it started, in response to community requests and through consultation with community leaders. In order to raise funding and spread awareness of the many benefits of greening activities, a proactive media campaign is maintained.
FTFAs mission is to contribute to a healthy and sustainable quality of life for all through environmental awareness and greening programmes.
Rocking the Daisies and Food & Trees for Africa have partnered for the last 2 years to offset the festivals carbon footprint through planting trees. 430 trees in total have been planted, 180 in 2007 in Philipi and 250 in Koringberg in the Swartland. The value of planting trees in a low cost housing settlement such as Koringberg or Philipi is significant and makes a considerable difference in terms of greening and uplifting these areas.
Periodic evaluations of both areas take place and in both areas trees have been found to be in good condition.
