We have identified the following green goals as a core part of implementing Rocking the Daisies in an eco-friendly way:

• Procurement of goods and services should be done in a sustainable manner, including the use of local products that have a    minimal negative effect on the environment.
• The generation of waste should actively be reduced during the planning and implementation of the event. Provide waste separation at source to encourage recycling and reduce waste to landfill.
• Use of water at the event should be done in a responsible manner. Participants and sub-contractors should be encouraged to implement water conservation principles.
• Energy efficiency should be encouraged through energy saving technologies, management systems and responsible behavior. The use of natural light and ventilation should be used whenever possible, as well as the use of renewable energy such as wind or solar energy.
• Air pollution should be reduced through encouraging non-motorized transport and efficient management of all vehicles on-site.
• The natural environment should be protected to reduce any negative impact on the biodiversity.
• To promote economic growth within the host region the organizers should try to encourage the local community to assist with provision of services required on site.
• The participants should be informed about the greening goals and should be encouraged to actively participate in achieving these goals with the view of behavior change towards more sustainable living.
• The implementation of the green goals need to be monitored and evaluated so that lessons learnt can be captured and improvements made. An open and transparent report should be made available.
